History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1909 the first court was constructed under the boughs of Como\u2019s once-famous and majestic Royal Oaktree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original site, located across the Main road, was donated by Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Shepperd. Tennis remained so popular with the local residents that, in 1946, it was necessary to expand to the current site. The property, initially leased from the Henshaw family, was pur\u00adchased in 1966 thanks to a donation from the Nelles family. During the years, the club\u00adhouse had been expanded from an old tool shed to the present facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today the club has four lighted Har Tru courts and two all-weather courts. The growth of the club, over the years, is the result of the efforts of its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Royal Oak tennis club has established itself as a strong competitive but friendly family club. Social events such as dinners, traditional Sunday teas, and round robins bring the members together. The Clubs\u2019 teams, both Juniors, and Seniors are active in the Montreal area and in the Inter-Club League circuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1909, la premi\u00e8re cour a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite sous les branches du ch\u00eane royal autrefois c\u00e9l\u00e8bre et majestueux Royal Oaktree de Como.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le site d\u2019origine, situ\u00e9 de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la route principale, a \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9 par M. et Mme R.W. Shepperd. Le tennis est rest\u00e9 si populaire aupr\u00e8s des r\u00e9sidents locaux que, en 1946, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire de s\u2019\u00e9tendre au site actuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La propri\u00e9t\u00e9, initialement lou\u00e9e \u00e0 la famille Henshaw, a \u00e9t\u00e9 achet\u00e9e en 1966 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un don de la famille Nelles. Au fil des ans, le club-house avait \u00e9t\u00e9 agrandi d\u2019un ancien hangar \u00e0 outils \u00e0 l\u2019installation actuelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aujourd\u2019hui, le club dispose de quatre courts Har Tru \u00e9clair\u00e9s et de deux courts tout temps. La croissance du club, au fil des ans, est le r\u00e9sultat des efforts de ses membres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le club de tennis Royal Oak s\u2019est impos\u00e9 comme un club familial comp\u00e9titif mais amical. Des \u00e9v\u00e9nements sociaux tels que des d\u00eeners, des th\u00e9s traditionnels du dimanche et des tournois \u00e0 la ronde rassemblent les membres. Les \u00e9quipes des clubs, juniors et seniors, sont actives dans la r\u00e9gion de Montr\u00e9al et dans les circuits de l\u2019Inter Club League.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
