In 1909 the first court was constructed under the boughs of Como’s once-famous and majestic Royal Oaktree. The Royal Oak tennis club is one of the oldest tennis clubs in Canada. Founded over 110 years ago our private club is family-oriented, social, welcoming to all ages and levels, and is here for the love of the sport! Generations of local families have been club members here at the ROTC!
In keeping with our fine tradition players will wear respectable tennis attire while playing at the Royal Oak Tennis Club. Up to 20% of colour is permitted as part of the long established “tennis whites” dress code.
Arlene Kingsland is the President of the Executive Committee. Arlene has been a resident of Hudson for over 25 years, and recently discovered the sport of tennis. She was quick to realize that being a member of the ROTC was like having a new family, and tries to get on the courts as often as possible.

Mike is relatively new to both Hudson and the ROTC. In 2017 in contemplation of retirement, he and his wife, Denise, purchased a home in Hudson and moved from Wisconsin. He enjoys all things outdoors, including paddle boarding, mountain biking, Nordic skiing, and last but not least, tennis. Mike and Denise both joined the ROTC in 2021 and look forward to shepherding the entertainment side of things of Royal Oak, especially the Friday night BBQs .
